Purchase Transactions - MapPoint Web Service API

In purchasing license access to the MapPoint Web Service API, two considerations must be addressed:
1. What Type of Users will have access to your application?
2. What is the Usage per Month of the MapPoint Web Service for the application?
What Type of Users?
There are two types of users for your application that drives the first part of the license model; Anonymous Users or Known Users.
Anonymous Users  - Internet users that hit your application without being provisioned and/or authenticated by the application. Simply, you do not know who they are. For example, your store locator brings in numerous unknown users, customers/prospects who lookup a store location by address and get driving directions.
Known Users  - Your application has been built for employees, partners or others, that you know. You have assigned them a username for access to the application or the application is closed for their use only. If you are using this model, you will be asked to certify the number of Known Users at the time of ordering.
What Is The Usage Per Month?

Your application will place calls to the MapPoint Web Service for finding addresses, maps, routes, and driving directions. MapPoint Web Service counts these calls from your application as Usage Transactions. A usage transaction takes place every time a user clicks within your application and calls MapPoint Web Service for a response. For example, when a user initially puts in his or her address information and then clicks on the Submit button asking the MapPoint Web Service for "Address Find", that is one transaction. When a map appears in response to the above "Address Find", that is a second transaction. If the user then clicks on the map to zoom in, that is a third transaction. A fourth transaction occurs if that user requests driving directions. A fifth transaction occurs if a map is delivered showing the driving directions. A sixth or additional tranaction occurs if the user clicks on the map to zoom in or out. A transaction occurs for every action that requests a response from the MapPoint Web Service.

Use the Maps4MyApps.com Usage Calculator to assist you in estimating the amount of transactions you need to purchase to cover your monthly mapping volume
