| Microsoft MapPoint Web Service API |
| |
| MapPoint Web Service API is a programmable web service hosted by
Microsoft and used by web developers to integrate location based services such
as online locator maps, driving directions and proximity searches into web applications,
desktop software, business processes and business intelligence reporting tools. The MapPoint
Web Service API provides an extensive set of mapping related content such as business listings
and points of interest that can be used within applications. MapPoint Web Services uses SOAP XML
to communicate with customer applications. |

| |
| Getting Started - Developing with MapPoint Web Service API |
|
| There are four key components: |
|
|
| 1. |
Application Development - You build an application and integrate the MapPoint Web Service. To get started,
obtain a MapPoint Evaluation Account and also download the
MapPoint Web Service SDK |
| 2. |
Application Hosting - After you build your application, someone must host the application and connect to the
MapPoint Web Service. |
| 3. |
Data Hosting - You may load your location information such as store sites to the MapPoint Web Service. |
| 4. |
Purchase Transactions - After testing your application,
you migrate from the Evaluation Account to the production version of MapPoint Web Services. A production account is
setup and billed similar to a cell phone plan. You purchase bundles of "transactions" to call the Microsoft MapPoint
Web service for maps and driving directions. |
|
|
| Map4MyApps.com offers bundles of map transactions. The advantage of using Maps4MyApps.com as compared to
Microsoft directly is that we can provide smaller transaction bundles and thus lower monthly fees. We also have a development
team who can help you with your custom application build if you desire. |
